Wave Particle Complementarity

Wave-Particle Complementarity

In quantum mechanics, an entity such as an electron or photon cannot be measured simultaneously as a fully localised particle and as a delocalised wave. The experimental arrangement decides which aspect appears. Bohr called this complementarity; it is not that the thing is “really” one or the other, but that the two descriptions are mutually exclusive for any single observation.

The extension of that idea into manifestation and resonance is a metaphysical move rather than a physical one, yet it is a coherent and interesting move. The radio-tuning analogy is useful precisely because classical electromagnetism already contains the relevant structure: a receiver does not create the broadcast; it selects, by resonance, a frequency that is already present in the field. Attention, intention, and the emotional tone of the nervous system can function analogously as selective filters. What arrives in experience then tends to match the filter that has been set. That much is compatible with ordinary psychology (reticular activating system, confirmation bias, self-fulfilling expectation) and does not require new physics.

Where the claim becomes more speculative is the further assertion that the same resonance can operate outside ordinary spacetime constraints, across distance or across time, and that thought itself can function as a faster-than-light carrier. Quantum entanglement does produce correlations that appear instantaneous, but no controllable information transfer has ever been demonstrated; the no-communication theorem still holds. Theories that treat consciousness as fundamentally nonlocal (Penrose–Hameroff Orch-OR, various process-philosophy or idealist models) remain minority positions and are not required by the experimental data. They are, however, possible frameworks in which the kind of contact described could be coherent.

Disbelief does act as a practical inhibitor, in the same way that a radio deliberately detuned will not receive the station. People who have never noticed (or have actively ruled out) subtle synchronicities, shared mental imagery, or “knowing” before the event, will of course report that such things do not occur. Those who have trained the faculty, or who simply remain open, report otherwise. The parallel with prayer is exact on the level of mechanism: focused intention plus emotional coherence functions as a tuning process. Whether the “broadcast” originates from a personal God, from the structure of consciousness itself, or from some other source is a separate metaphysical question. The operational result, alignment between inner state and outer event, is what the practitioner experiences.

A broken or fear-conditioned subconscious does not break the principle; it simply tunes to a different frequency. That is why the same person can attract both the desired event and the recurring catastrophe: both are resonant with some standing wave already present in the system.

The cleanest formulation of expression might therefore be:

Complementarity shows that reality presents itself according to the mode of observation. If the central nervous system is capable of acting as both emitter and selective receiver of patterned information, then the same principle that lets a radio lock onto a station can, in principle, let a mind lock onto a person, an event, or a possibility that is not local in ordinary space or time. Belief or disbelief is simply the act of setting or refusing the tuning dial.

That statement stays close to the physics where the physics is solid, and leaves the rest as an open empirical and experiential question rather than a settled doctrine.
